Really good article about hipsters, yuppies, & gentrification. Explains how “hipsters” are a consumer group who attempt to escape their wealth & priviledge by appropriating & immersing themselves in the symbols/aesthetics of working & revolutionary classes, thereby draining these symbols of any meaning in order to aquire superficial “authenticity” & “street-cred”.
